Vasthi is described in classical Ayurvedic texts as "Ardhachikitsa" — meaning it constitutes half the entire treatment of Ayurveda. This indicates its extraordinary importance and effectiveness. The colon is considered the seat of Vata dosha, and by administering medicines through this route, Vasthi can reach and heal virtually all parts of the body.
The medicated substances administered through Vasthi are absorbed through the large intestine mucosa and carried throughout the body, nourishing tissues, removing toxins, and restoring normal Vata function. This makes Vasthi uniquely effective for conditions that do not respond well to other treatments.
